MOSAIC SYSTEM |
|
Though similar in appearance, the little tiles
are unique: each has its own shape, colour and function. A hand, guided
by eye and spirit, assembles the whole, the mosaic, according to predefined
idea.
A mosaic "what comes from muses" is a product of knowledge, skill
and inspiration, a definite sign of maturity. The ELKO Mosaic System is
a confirmation of the technological maturity of both its manufacturer and
user.
In a way, the assembly of a mosaic belongs to childhood; to the childhood
of mankind, like the mosaics of Babylon and Greece, and to the childhood
of man, like our early puzzles and the joy we felt when the last piece fell
in place. A bit of that early, yet mature joy will be ours together after
assembling this mosaic for you. |
|
Our Mosaic System represents an electrically
and mechanically reliable means to achieve various control functions in
a modern control room. With an ease of maintenance and modification, the
system permits plant supervision and control without additional operator
training.
The combination of conventional mosaic control functions and the VT control
system permits high speed and reliable processing and transmission of large
quantities of data. Any information on the process is available, simultaneosly
and without the need for the operator to keep in mind process and state
of individual aparatures. The system meets the availability, man-machine
aspect and ergonomical function requirements of a control room designed
for use today and tomorrow. |
|
Application
Mosaic control boards, desks, cabinets and panels find wide application
in electric power and industrial process plants plants for:
- various process control
- easy visual monitoring
- recording
- measurement and visual indication
The greatest number of Mosaic Systems have been applied in plants for:
- electric power generation and transmission
- industrial process plants
- traffic control centres
- centralized control systems (dispatching centres)
- energy media transport systems

Description
The basic components of the Mosaic System are mosaic tiles made of thermoplastic
polycarbonate - makrolon. The tiles are joined by a sliding method providing
an even mosaic surface.
Three Mosaic Systems featuring different tile edge size are available: M25
(25x25 mm), M50 (50x25 mm) and M19 (19,05x19,05 mm).
The M25 system with tiles 25x25 mm is the most popular because it offers
the widest range of features with largest choice of elements.
Another advantage is that the systems M25 and M50 can be combined. |
|
Design
Mosaic System design provides proper operator viewing angle for instrumentation,
switches, symbols and inscriptions on control boards and desks.
Control element layout takes into consideration the frequency of interventions
upon a process or a network. This provides optimum control effeciency and
simplicity.
Lines thickness and lettering size depend on the distance between board
and operator. |
|
Construction
The standard mosaic board construction features a self-supporting cabinet
type structure with optional rear door. Board design can be customized to
specific requirements for best control room and and mosaic board appearance.
Board designs for wall instalation are available upon request. Mosaic control
boards are available in curved, polygonal or flat designs. Desks attached
to the boards are also available.
Mosaic control desks are made of metal frames with wood or plastic covered
surface upon request. Mosaic control boards and desks are made of segments
easily disassembled for transport. |
|
Advantages of the Mosaic System
Mimic diagrams are easily modified or extended (high flexibility) without
interrupting the operation of control and indication.
Simple installation of the Mosaic System elements and of the other equipment
upon request.
Flow charts can be made with maximum space utilization.
Quick and simple replacement of any component on the board (indicators,
recorders and other components of any size).
Mosaic elements can be reused any time. |
|
Technical data
Dimensions and design for mosaic control boards and desks depend on customer
requirements. The minimum radius of a board curvature is 10 m.

Wiring
All external cables and cables coming from the board control, measuring
and indicating elements are wired to junction busbars which can be equipped
with solder tags, screwed connections or faston connections 4,8x0,8 mm,
to terminal strips (solder tags, faston connections or connectors), to terminal
blocks.
Each active element has a cable jack plugged into the distributing busbar
behind the supporting structure, or wired to the terminal block.
The layout of terminal blocks and distributing busbars depend on the project
design. |
