Application
 

The capacitor storage unit type KPU-301 represents a reliable source of d.c. voltage for the supply of tripping coils of circuit breakers.
The KPU-301 unit finds wide application in the switchgears not equipped with a storage battery in which d.c. tripping circuits are used.
The KPU-301 unit is also applied in storage battery equipped switchgears in which, for improved reliability, the main tripping coil is powered from a storage battery, and the stand-by coils from a separate and from the storage battery completely independent source of supply, the KPU-301 unit.

 
Description

The KPU-301 unit receives a.c. voltage from the voltage transformer or the house transformer or any other a.c. source of supply and offers at its output the voltage required for operation of tripping coils of circuit breakers fairly long after the loss of input a.c. voltage.
According to fig. 1, a.c. input voltage is connected to the appropriate input terminals in correspondence with available input voltage rating, and the output voltage is selected by inserting jumpers across appropriate terminals on the terminal board. The charge of the capacitor battery can be checked by button T. When depressed an indicating light signal will appear on the device cover if the capacitor battery is properly charged.

 
Features
 

The KPU-301 unit is a reliable source of auxiliary supply voltage for circuit breaker tripping coils. Owing to galvanic isolation between output and input, wiring arrangements permit either the "+" or "-" output terminal to be grounded. The unit is compact and of small dimensions.
