AUXILIARY CIRCUIT
CONTROL RELAY |
|
Application |
|
The function of the KPK auxiliary circuit control relay is the detection
of an open circuit-breaker auxiliary tripping circuit.
The device detects the loss of the auxiliary supply voltage (for circuit
breaker tripping), a breach in the trip coil, malfunctioning of the CB
auxiliary contacts and of the device itself.

|
Description |
|
Under normal conditions
(when the CB is closed, and protection contact open) a low control current
flows from the plus pole of the battery to the minus pole through ttie wire
conection to the protection contact, the KPK device, another wire conection,
the auxiliary CB contact and the CB trip coil (fig. 1 and 2).
Thus, contact 7-8 of the KPK 10 device is closed and contact 1-5 open.
Loss of auxiliary supply voltage or any fault resulting in a breach in this
circuit causes signalization of fault (i.o. closing of contacts 1-5 and
6-7) (fig. 1) When the CB is open the control current circuit is closed
through the second (tripping) CB auxiliary contact. In order to avoid faulty
signalization, in the moment of closing of the protection contact (terminals
2 and 3 are short circuited and the CB has not yet opened), the KPK has
an inbuilt sufficient dropout time of approximatly 0,3 s.
To insure the protection of the whole tripping circuit including wiring,
the KPK device must be connected directly to the protection relay terminals.
As the function of the device is signalization of on open tripping circuit,
th~ signalization circuit must be independent of the tripping circuit.
TYPE KPK 103
The mode of operation of KPK 103 does not differ from that of KPK 10. The
KPK 103 output relay contacts are connected as on fig. 2.
