EuroProt family |
|
The protective, automatic and SCADA functions
more and more integrate in frame of the system philosophy seen the most
modern in the power system industry. In the up to date system, the same
devices are used for all these functions. The EuroProt device family made
by ELKO-PROTECTA performs these demands. This information sheet writes about
the common features of EuroProt family. Own features of members of this
family is written in separate description. |
|
|
|
All the EuroProt devices consists of more cooperating
microprocessors based intelligences. They work together by the aid of an
especial, system-independent inner communication architecture. This architecture
makes it possible to be able to apply as an RTU ("bay level computer")
of substation and/or hierarchical SCADA
system. In the same time, the well proved protections and automatic
devices are constantly present in the device. Matching to the SCADA system
is carried out on such a way the bay level SCADA modules are built into
the device, which modules communicate with the higher level of SCADA ("head
computer"). These modules have therefore such a surface ("protocol")
which the equipment of higher level is able to handle. The devices of the
EuroProt family are matched now to the MAB
system made by INFOWARE
Corp. and the PROFIELD system made by PROLAN Co. Ltd. The system-independent
architecture mentioned above makes, of course, possible to match the devices
to any other system. Among others IEC 60870-5-103 standard communication
protocol is available.
The further benefit of the EuroProt system is as follows. The devices may
be interconnected together, over the SCADA connection, through optical fibre
cable loop by the aid of two independent communication channel, and they
may put under supervision of an independent protection engineer's workplace.
All the EuroProt devices can be completed with independent fault recorder
module as well. These are matched into the storing and reading system of
the protection engineer's workplace. |

The general architecture of an EuroProt device can be seen at the figure

Design |

All the EuroProt device will be delivered in a unified form of new appearance.
The devices is manufactured in an up to date device case designed to this
aim, or in a rack to be built into a standard 19" cabinet. Three
different horizontal sizes of cases are formed depending on the required
functions, and the especial outfits makes possible to mount to a relay
panel ( i. e. connections from before) or to flush mounting (connections
from back). In case of especial ambient condition, the device can be ordered
with enclosure protection class of IP65 as well. The device cases have
a decorative front plate with folio keyboard which consists of handling
and displaying means both traditional ones with pushbuttons and parametring
with external computer. Graphical scheme on the front plate serves to
display the condition of handling means.
A typical application of EuroProt system is demonstrated in the following
